It's not a meal; it's not ready to eat; and it's not edible. Or so I've been told. I was putting away some groceries in the basement storage room, when I came across a cache of a dozen or so MREs. They have a copyright date on the box of 1986.
Anybody want dinner? Or maybe a science project?

Ewwwww...
Did you say "copyright date?"
Clearly, we are not talking about food.
This certainly does explain why they are in very drab packages. No need to date those silly things with 1950's packaging and let us know how long it's been since the last go around. :)
Yes, copyright on the label (C) 1986.
No "best is used by" date. I think that is either due to that labeling regulation had not been passed, or an admission that it was never "best" by any date.
Audrey and i used to sneak those and eat them in our bedrooms... Apparently you never fed us.
One halloween, I dressed up as a SEAL and even took a couple MREs around campus with me for lunch.
you know... now that I think of it, I remember someone serving us MREs for breakfast once when mom was out of town...
No wonder you guys used to cry when I left...
